Wow what an effort !! The Wellers would finally salute after an inspiring come from behind effort away at Kew. After last weeks fade out at Ormond the Wellers were keen to make amends and get back on the winners list against an improved Kew outfit .
The Wellers would start on top with plenty of attacking football, the boys were up and running early Wells, Allen and Trait dominating through the middle and Kanz, Eade and Hart looking very dangerous forward.
The second quarter would see Kew start to win some contested ball and start to deliver to a dangerous forward group. We would go back into our shell and seemed to stand back and watch as Kew would gain control with a 5 goals to 2 quarter. Our second quarter fade out was all too familiar we needed to re group quickly.
In the third quarter we would hold on with some enormous pressure efforts and our backline would slowly start to dominate the game. Chook Howells was playing the game of his life and Cameron Wilson who was playing his first game for the year was looking very comfortable down back. We just couldn’t score goals from numerous forward entries. The efforts however were up and we were determined to come home strongly.
The last would see the boys play their finest quarter of the year. With only 1 fit player on the bench we would dig deep to kick 5 goals to 2 and seal a much needed 3 point victory. A great reward for a some huge efforts on the day.
A big thanks to all supporters who turned up for the win and great to see you all in the rooms after to celebrate with a very happy team and proud coaching group.
