Round 1 Review

Wellers v Willy

After a very long and hard pre-season round 1 had finally arrived. The Wellers were eager and rearing go on a perfect autumn day.The opposition were going to be tough, they are an up and coming side and had an extra bonus with a couple of VFL listed players added to there side.

We would start strongly and we’re winning plenty of the ball through the middle though Hart & Latsas. Our forwards Adamson & Kanz were looking dangerous.

Overall we were controlling all faucets of the game and at times looked in full control but couldn’t break away from Willy who would hang around and go into the half time break only 4 points behind.
The second half would turn into a real arm wrestle with nether side gaining any real control of the contest. Our backs were holding strong though the Bennett’s and Proska and repelling many forward entries.Willy however would start to edge ahead and win more of the contested efforts around the ground. The game would go right down to the wire with Willy playing the more disciplined footy and winning the battle in end.

The Wellers can hold their heads high as we played some excellent footy in patches throughout the afternoon. If those efforts continue we will be on the winners list very soon.

Great to see 5 new faces come into the side and if they continue to improve it will hold the side in a great position over the next few months.

Let’s get all our supporters down for our first home game this Saturday.
