Round 2 Review – Seniors 2 from 2!

A Weekend of Firsts!

What a weekend for our football club and one many won’t forget.

A special mention must go to the Women’s Team who have created history with our first ever victory in the inaugural VAFA Women’s League. Congratulations to every single person involved from our most recent President Andrew Tsindos for taking
on the challenge and making it happen, Ken Schwab and Andrew Romanin for their coaching, Tim Wilson the new Team Manager but most importantly all the young women who have taken on the challenge, trained hard and will now go down in history – Sensational!!!

The Under 19s also recorded their first win for the season and as Dancey ‘The Prez’ tells me, it was gutsy and hard fought – no better way to win them. We all know how crucial a thriving Under 19s team is for our Club and congratulations to Gavin Powell and Boyd Elliott for putting this team together and the players for a stirring win with only 19!

I was invited to the matchday lunch at Old Ivanhoe and was warmly welcomed by their committee. Their coach and president graciously acknowledged the good work Anson and his coaching team have done over the past few seasons and expected a tough and uncompromising encounter. The Two Blues didn’t disappoint. The Reserves were rampant and set the tone for the afternoon. The Seniors then delivered a comprehensive victory and to win 2 away games in a row first up is no small achievement. It’s the start we all wanted.
