Almost Quarter Time!
There’s no question the Senior Group (Seniors and Reserves) will be hurting after Caulfield. I made it after quarter time for the Seniors and trust me, there was no shortage of effort. Sometimes you come up against a stronger side “on the day” but I remained proud of our effort. Both teams will bounce back. While the Reserves are seeking a second win, I think we would all have taken 2 from 4 at the start of the season. Now we need to discover our home form and take advantage of a good platform.
The Under 19s are flying high and given the fixtures I was able to take in most of their game. Gavin Powell and Boyd Elliott have a great bunch together and after a few lean years at school level, the club song is being sung with extra gusto! 3 wins in a row and sitting 4th is just reward for the early hard work. The platform is strong.
Our Women continue to steam forward celebrating another convincing win and notching up 3 in a row as well. To win away under lights is special and it will be fascinating to see how we fare against Collegians, a longstanding A Grade men’s club. Bring them on is what the girls would say I’m sure. A little early to say given last week was our first Division 2 game but the signs are also strong.
My read on ‘quarter time’ is positive. We’re in the mix across all our teams. Plenty of hard work to do but well done to everyone involved. Now is the time to push on and take advantage.
As always, our teams always play better with a crowd. The BBQ will be going again from 11.15am – 2.30pm outside the entrance to the clubrooms, our canteen will be firing and our fast becoming globally renowned $5 afternoon tea will be available at 3.30pm upstairs.
We need helpers across all these areas so please get in touch if you can spare some time on the day. No time to small. My email – firstname.lastname@example.org
