We are “One” Old Camberwell!
Our Women’s Team were again sensational. Challenged early, they responded through guts and hard work and beat a fancied Collegians to go top of the ladder! There is real momentum in this group and still new players are looking to join every week. It would be great to see our supporters this weekend away at Ivanhoe AFC.
Our Under 19’s had a game on their hands from the first bounce and battled all day to narrowly go down to De La Salle, a traditionally strong club with great depth. Confidence is strong though and I’m sure they’ll bounce back.
Our Seniors and Reserves had a Saturday that I’m sure they’d like to forget. Sometimes it’s just not your day. I know they’re disappointed as they aren’t playing the football we all know they’re capable of but the coaching teams have been impressive this week and we have a strong plan ahead. It’s imperative we recapture our ‘form’ and put in a good performance.
It was another enjoyable day around the club – thanks again to those who helped with the BBQ, Canteen and all areas. A special thanks to Jason who at very short notice helped with the water for the Seniors straight after playing in the Reserves.
I’ll shortly be looking for help to start filling tables for our next two club lunches on June 24th (Community Lunch) and July 15th (Ladies Lunch).
I mentioned in the heading that we are ‘One’ Old Camberwell. Why? During the course of Saturday so many players were asking me how the other teams were going. I saw Senior and Under 19 players arrive early to take in the Women’s and many of the Reserves and Women stay to watch the Seniors and Under 19s play. The more we get behind each other the more successful we’ll become. Our Reserves and Seniors are a great group of young men who have our full support and backing. I’m excited already for Saturday and hope to see you there.
